This article aims to reveal and understand the process of ex situ compulsory displacement of residents from Jacundá, in the state of Pará, promoted by the Tucuruí Hydroelectric Dam in 1977. We started from the residents individual and collective memories to unveil the effects that this dam has had on their lives. We understand the importance of the affected people in the reconstruction of this history and we use the narratives of the expropriated to reveal what has not been officially written about these effects, but which today is still experienced daily by these people. Such narratives were collected in fieldwork carried out from 2017 to 2019. We concluded that Eletronorte and the Brazilian State promoted a disruption in the life of this disregarded and invisible population with this hydroelectric project construction. Expropriated people still fight for their rights, among them, their monetary compensation for material damages suffered.
