Social technology and the praxis of agrarian reform: methodologies for planning and productive organization in the Alaíde Reis Collective (MST)

Agrarian reform settlements face complex challenges within the scope of agroecological production and technical assistance. Furthermore, the discontinuity of public policies undermines the struggle for rights led by social movements, demanding new strategies for accessing financial resources and technical advisory. Based on the partnership between the Tangará/UFRJ program and the MST (Landless Workers' Movement), this article presents the experience of implementing small-scale production planning methodologies, using a work carried out with the 18 families of the Alaíde Reis Marketing Collective in the South Fluminense region of Rio de Janeiro, during the years 2023 and 2024, as a case study. The analysis focuses on the Production Record Book (Caderno de Registro da Produção - CRP) and the Roça application, contributing to discussions on technologies developed from the perspective of Social Technology and applied to family farming. The study concludes by highlighting the need to respect local timing, capacities, and accessibility for technological transition, as well as the indispensability of articulation between community actors, universities, and public policies.
