This dossier aims to demonstrate how agrarian social movements have played a crucial role in defending the rights of rural populations, shaping an agrarian reform agenda, and promoting human and sustainable development policies that foster the construction of citizenship through social participation. The dossier explores the social, political, economic, and territorial dynamics surrounding agrarian movements in the contemporary context, highlighting their strategies for engaging with public policies and their resistance to the expansion of mega-projects—such as agribusiness, mining, and renewable energy—as well as the foreign acquisition of land. The articles present diverse perspectives on agrarian movements, encompassing debates on intersectionality, decoloniality, territoriality, resistance, and social and climate justice, among other topics.
